How to Cope in These Complex Times

As I work with people in today's complex society, it has become increasingly clear that everyone needs a personal protection system. This system is essential for shielding ourselves from modern life's constant challenges and distractions while maintaining our ability to think clearly and make sense of everything.

I'm not talking about the usual barriers and masks we hide behind for our reasons. What I mean is a robust protection system, like a fortress wall, that can defend us against everything that comes our way in this fast-paced, interconnected world.

Think of it as your very own kryptonite. It's a powerful metaphor for what I'm suggesting.

Every day, the media bombards us with negative news, harmful foods that hardly resemble anything edible when you read the ingredients and a medical system that prioritises pills over addressing the underlying issues. Politicians make empty promises, while many struggle with addiction or mental health challenges. And recently, even necessities like food and fuel have created financial insecurity for so many. The list goes on, but you get the idea.

In this world, having what we call a Personal Protection System is crucial. It's the key to holding your ground and navigating a challenging landscape that often feels overwhelming.

Discover the steps to a better, well-informed life:

1. Break free from news addiction and focus on getting informed through reliable sources like Substack, podcasts, and journals.

2. Prioritize self-care with daily rituals like meditation and mindfulness, which significantly impact confidence and attitude.

3. Pay attention to unaddressed small-t traumas that may manifest as boundary issues, hypersensitivity, or difficulty with social interactions.

4. Cut out toxicity from your life, whether it's toxic social media or unhealthy food choices.

By following these steps, you'll reduce anxiety and enrich your well-being.

We all carry more weight than ever, whether it's the burden of an intense job, a demanding family, personal issues, or our trauma. You can enjoy life's moments with clarity.

Remember that you are not alone in this journey; there are ample difficulties, but don't let it stop you from getting back up! We want you to look after yourself, so please remember: reach out, don't go this alone.
